Ethics

I found many things interesting during this week of classes, however the most interesting thing to me was how ethics relates to the media. It seems to me that many people, journalists, organizations, etc. have thrown ethics out the window. There have been many occasions when the information that is being relayed to the audience has been tampered with, making it hard for people to know what to believe. Two major groups of people I can think of that are affected by this are celebrities and politicians. For example, Tiger Woods seems to be in the media a lot lately because of his alleged affairs. However, what is society supposed to believe? There are so many stories going around that are not ethical and situations like this one happen all the time. Everyone needs to start reporting more ethical information because great consequences can occur if unethical information is reported.

Expectations

I have quite a few expectations for this class. First of all, I am expecting to learn how to properly prepare e-mails, cover letters, resumes, etc. All of these things will be very beneficial in the working world, but also very beneficial when I am applying for jobs or internships. Secondly, I am expecting to learn how to correctly create memos, business letters, and business e-mails. Having the proper business writing skills will make me more knowledgeable and will make me more respected by my fellow colleagues. By knowing all of these things, I will be more prepared for the business world.
